Hi! I’m Kyong Agapiou
an interior designer in Charlotte, NC specializing in timeless interior design!
I started working for a kitchen design firm, designing and selling kitchen cabinets while attending school for Interior Design. I loved the technical and detailed aspects of kitchen design and knew I’d found something I loved!
While working for the kitchen design firm, several of my clients started asking me for help with other rooms of their homes. They wanted advice on furniture, lighting, tile, and more.
I was working over forty hours a week and was going to school, so I kept turning down these clients, and one, in particular, chased me down for two weeks asking if I’d design her home.
She felt overwhelmed, and was willing to work within the schedule I was keeping between work and school. I finally agreed to help her select the materials for her remodel.
After the construction was completed, she then asked for my help furnishing her home, a beautiful 6-bedroom beach house on the water. She was ecstatic with what we’d accomplished together and how we’d made her vision for a timeless interior come to life!
After this project, I was officially hooked and wanted to help more design clients in this way.
This client and I have remained in touch and I’ve helped her three more times with her home design – as well as many more satisfied clients like her!
With over 25+ years of experience in the interior design industry, I launched Designs by Kyong, LLC in 1998. My timeless interior design work has been featured in countless magazines and vendor brochures and has won numerous accolades from my clients and peers.
I graduated from the University of New Haven with a degree in Interior Design / Pre-Architecture, passed the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) test, became a CKD (Certified Kitchen Designer), and became a member of the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).
